MERI’s methodology, a tested model operating in 23 states across the country – some for more than 25 years – is rooted in the basic business concepts of accountability and performance review. A particular focus for MERI is how state policies affect Maine’s economy.
Roll Call
Our work culminates with the biennial report Roll Call. Published after the adjournment of each two-year legislative session, Roll Call identifies legislative proposals (bills) that significantly impact Maine’s business environment. Each bill is tracked through the entire legislative process including the final votes, which become the basis of our rating for each legislator.
How do we get the final scores?
The final rankings are based on a combination of recorded votes on selected bills, and a qualitative survey of government relations professionals that represent Maine’s business community before the Maine Legislature.
